My Discussion about ads with LOOKERY and ROCKYOU

Below is an email interaction I had with Lookery and then with Rockyou. I am still awaiting responses from Slide. I hope this helps clear some questions up....Did i sound unfair in my questions? I don't want to sound bias but one side has a little bit more personable Customer Service.

Lookery

Rex
I have been getting feedback that the most I could expect is the minimum?
Is this true? If so what is the value of utilizing Lookery over other
providers who may payout as much at .35+ cents.
Thanks-

Redg,
That choice to use our network for ads is entirely up to you. We do have guarantee rates for EU traffic, where the CPM doesn't vary and you can also do the RevShare rate where it is quite lower than the rate you quote below. This blog post explains the differences of our programs we have: http://blog.lookery.com/2008/04/03/lookery-guarantee-025-euro-guarantee/
Basically, if you can get that rate, by all means use that network. So why would you use Lookery? Our main business is our ad network, but our other business of demographic marketing is what intrigues many to use our services.

Rex,
I was under the impression that you had a guarantee for US rates as well. I read this http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/01/31/how-much-is-a-facebook-ad-worth-lookery-guarantees-drum-roll-125-cent-cpms/ . I asked the question for education on your product. I understand that there are many reasons to go with an ad network other than just money such as analytics, ease of implementation, reliability etc. Thank you for the blog link. I will definitely check you guys out. Any further information would be appreciated.

Redg,

Yes, the Lookery Guarantee 12.5 cent rate - the response has been so overwhelming that we have now had to have pubs run for at least 30 days consistently on the RevShare rate. Like a waiting list more or less.

Our demographic data packages are all rolling out this quarter, and our dashboard for our Lookery www site should be improving now that we have hired more help - Jay Meattle - ex-Compete Product Manager.

Growing fast, small company, everyone does a lot of things here. The best places of course to see/read more info about Lookery is by simply doing a Google BlogSearch on "Lookery" - the latest information should come up.

Rockyou,
I am interested at what rockyou could do for our application

Hi Redg,
Which application is this?
Ro

Ro,
We launch on the 27th. Our first app is a more robust rich service, and I am trying to swim the seas of information in this new marketsphere. I am looking for someone to talk straight about two things.
What are expected ROI and CPI on ad campaigns from all the major Facebook Ad network players
What could I really expect as a CPM return.
Thank you so much for returning my inquiry. Any help would be amazing!
Redg-

Redg,
Can't speak to ROI given that's dependent completely on the app. CPIs will range from $0.10 to $0.50. We're at $0.50. Our biggest competitor Socialmedia is at $0.30. If ads perform we will drop it within the $0.30 range. What we provide is twofold. 1) We can help virally tune your application to drive more multipliers for every paid install and 2) tremendous throughput if the ad performs. Our top advertisers can generate north of 10-15K users a day which if the app is viral, total over 40-50K users a day. In terms of CPM, we pay out publishers on average $0.25-$0.30 eCPM per banner placement.

What is the process to become a rockyou publisher. How do you differ from lookery, and do you create custom scripts that I can utilize as easily as lookery? I really do appreciate your responses.
Redg-

Redg
Well, we're actually driving advertisers like eBay, Microsoft, Champion, Coke and others onto our network and don't have to guarantee payments to publishers to have a sizable ad network (2B PVs a month) given that nearly half of that is our own applications. Agencies are looking for real marketing campaigns vs buys on run of network, and because we have the most popular apps on Facebook and hi5 to date, we're able to close those deals.

Take a look at http://www.rockyouads.com. Really easy integration.

"That choice to use our network for ads is entirely up to you." Hhmmm, that's a great selling point. NOT. Did you really need to be told that it was up to you whether or not you used them?! It's kind of hard to believe that this individual is on someones payroll, really. I wonder what the company powers that be would say about this cavalier approach to customer relations.

Anyway, before I was interupted by my job, I was going to say that Rockyou seems to be much more informative and specific. Didn't really answer how to become a Rockyou publisher but other clear info and a direction to look for you answers. Yes, I think your questions were fair and necessary in order to make an informed decision.
